Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) in Cranfield is our centre of excellence for the design and development of vehicles manufactured in our European plants.
NTCE is a central player in Nissan’s global operations. In a sustained period of produce led growth and profitability NTCE is pivotal in the development of next generation vehicles and the further enhancement of the Nissan range which will take Nissan’s market position to new levels. We are constantly anticipating market needs whilst delivering unique and innovative engineering solutions to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Whilst NTCE strongly supports global initiatives we are already recognised as a Global Leader within Nissan in the field of Diesel unit development and we continually strive to develop European specific technologies.
NTCE is part of an integrated Research & Development network with centres in Japan, the US and Europe. Each centre is dedicated to designing and developing Nissan vehicles to meet the specific demands and desires of their market, thus better equipping Nissan to satisfy its customers in markets around the world. We are the European arm of that network with offices in over five countries. As a European company we are in the best position to know and understand our market. We use the creativity of our engineers to provide our customers with attractive and exciting vehicles responsibly designed and developed specifically to their tastes and needs.
The company was founded in 1988 and originally based at Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK Ltd in Sunderland. In 1991, NTCE moved to an ideal location on the Cranfield University Technology Park, one of Europe’s largest academic centres for applied research. In 2005 the UK division of R&D was incorporated into Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd and the Spain Division was incorporated into Nissan Motor Iberica, S.A. Key to our success is the development of strong relationships with our European suppliers. NTCE is ideally placed near the heart of the UK and European motor components industry, allowing close liaison and ‘simultaneous engineering’ with suppliers from the earliest stages of new vehicle development. Through our joint technical expertise and skill, we are able to develop quality components that meet our demanding performance targets.
Allied to that is our commitment to provide all our employees with the training and development and skills to influence the way we work and the work we do. Without the creativity and lateral thinking of our highly skilled engineers we would never be able to offer the flexible, effective and responsive service that as become the hallmark of NTCE.
